Headend by medialab turns an Enigma2 satellite or cable receiver (Vu+ and others running OpenWebif) into a Live TV source for Jellyfin: the channels, the program guide and the channel logos all come from the same box.
What it does
- Channels from the receiver, read through OpenWebif, appear in Jellyfin's Live TV.
- Program guide (EPG) from the receiver, for every channel.
- Channel logos (picons) from the receiver.
- Stream through the server: viewers play the channel from the Jellyfin server; the receiver's address is never handed to the apps, so the source stays hidden. Several viewers of the same channel share one tuner, and a busy tuner gives a clear error.
- Channel list you control: bouquets to import, unnamed channels hidden, SD hidden when the HD version exists, names, numbers and order adjustable.
- Access per user: new users start without Live TV access through Headend; you grant it from the Headend page.
- Adult channels behind a PIN, unlocked per user for a limited time.
Requirements
- Jellyfin Server 12.2 or newer.
- An Enigma2 receiver with OpenWebif, reachable from the Jellyfin server (usually on the same network).
Frequently asked
Can I watch my Enigma2 / Vu+ channels in Jellyfin? Yes: Headend adds the receiver as a TV source, with its channels, guide and logos, and passes the stream through the Jellyfin server. See the guide.
Licensing
The plugin is open source (GPL-3.0), like Jellyfin itself. What you buy is the subscription for builds, updates and support for one Jellyfin server: ready-to-install releases through your private plugin repository, every update while the subscription is active, and help when something does not work. The plugin checks the subscription key once a day; without a valid subscription it stops until you renew (nothing is deleted). Monthly, yearly or lifetime (lifetime includes one year of updates), or included in the Jellyfin bundle. 30-day free trial.
Source code. For every release, the complete corresponding source code is downloadable from your account (Account → Licences, Source code) next to the build, under the same rules as the build, and each archive contains the full GPL-3.0 text (LICENSE). If you need the source of a version you can no longer download, ask us and we send it. See section 10 of the EULA.
