Web hosting
MediaLab Works hosting runs on our own server in Romania, not on resold space. Each customer gets a separate Linux account with its own resource limits, and each website runs in its own containers: a problem in one site does not reach your other sites or other customers. You manage everything from your account on medialab.works: websites, domains, databases, mailboxes, SFTP and SSH access, backups and the plan.
Plans are open to everyone: choose a plan and its options on the hosting page and order online. Your account is created a few minutes after payment, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Yearly billing costs ten times the monthly price (two months free), and the price stays the same when you renew: there is no introductory price that goes up later. Prices are in EUR; VAT is calculated at checkout based on your country.
Options on the same subscription: +10 GB NVMe (€1/month), +1 vCPU (€2/month), +1 GB RAM (€2/month) and extended backup (€2/month, backups kept as long as on the next plan). Restore by our team costs €10 per restore; the first one each month is free.
The current plans, options and prices are on the hosting page.
What every plan includes
- Apache or nginx, per site, both with PHP-FPM and PHP 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4 or 8.5. Apache reads your
.htaccessfiles, like most shared hosting; nginx is lighter. You choose for each site and can use both in the same account. - Node.js 22 / 24 and Python 3.12 (from Standard): your app runs in its own container and listens on the port we give it; we put the web server and the certificate in front of it.
- Static sites: HTML, CSS and JavaScript served directly.
- Free SSL certificates (Let's Encrypt), issued and renewed automatically.
- A preview address for every site, so you can build it before you move the domain.
- Subdomains: a site can use a subdomain of your domains (for example
blog.yourdomain.com), with DNS and certificate created automatically. - A web root chosen for each site and app detection (Laravel, Symfony, WordPress, Drupal, Nextcloud, WHMCS …): the app's private folders stay outside the web root.
- Automatic DNS: when you add a domain, we create its DNS zone in Cloudflare with the web and mail records (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, autoconfig). You only change the nameservers at your registrar.
- E-mail on your domain, on our mail server, with webmail, IMAP and SMTP.
- MariaDB and PostgreSQL databases.
- Daily backups of files and databases, which you can restore yourself from your account, plus on-demand backups and downloading a site or a database from any backup.
- File manager in your account: upload (large archives too), extract, edit text files, download folders as
.zip. - Web database editor (Adminer) for MariaDB and PostgreSQL, opened with one click, plus
.sqlexport and import. - Logs for every site in
logs/<site>(nginx or apache, PHP), also visible in your account.
How it is built
- Isolation: one Linux user per customer, with its own CPU, memory, process and disk limits. Sites run in rootless Podman containers, without access to the server's local network or to other customers' accounts.
- Our own images: the containers are built by us from the official Debian-based images of PHP, Apache httpd, nginx, Node.js and Python.
- The web gateway: our server's web server receives all requests on ports 80 and 443, holds the certificates and sends each request to the right site.
- Outgoing mail from your sites goes through our mail server with a mailbox (port 587); direct sending on port 25 is blocked, so the server's address stays off spam lists.
- Backups are made every night with restic, encrypted, on a separate disk in the same server.
Honest limits
- Backups are kept on the same server, on a separate disk, not in a second location (yet). They protect you from mistakes, a broken update or a hacked site, but not from the loss of the whole server. Keep your own copy of anything important; you can download your files and databases at any time.
- One server: availability is backed by our SLA (99.9 % per month, with credits on the next invoice), but there is no automatic failover to a second machine.
- "Unlimited" on Business means fair use: the CPU, RAM and disk of the plan still apply, and there are technical caps meant only to stop abuse (see the Terms).
Guarantees and rules
- 30-day money-back guarantee from your first payment.
- 99.9 % monthly availability, with service credits: Service level agreement.
- What you may host: Acceptable use policy. We process the personal data in your sites and mailboxes on your behalf: Data processing agreement.
- Prices, billing, suspension and deletion: Terms, section 10.
